Betting Syndicates Use Fake Jobs to Recruit Workers in India and Bangladesh

Gambling fraud syndicates across South Asia are luring job seekers through fake advertisements on social media and job portals. Victims from India and Bangladesh are promised high-paying digital jobs in Malaysia or Cambodia but end up forced into working for online betting platforms.

Many report being trafficked, having passports seized, and being held in compound-like buildings with long working hours and threats of violence. These workers are forced to manage fake social media accounts, promote illegal betting sites, or manipulate online casinos.

Authorities in both countries are investigating such recruitment networks. They urge young job seekers to verify international offers and report suspicious behavior to the police.
