Gambling platforms in Dhaka are discreetly advertising their services on public buses and rickshaws under the cover of “entertainment” or “quiz challenge” brands. Stickers and posters on vehicles display QR codes or Telegram handles linked to betting groups.
Some ads use vague terms like “play and win” or “daily rewards,” avoiding direct references to gambling. Authorities say the goal is to attract low-income passengers and students.
The city transport board is investigating vehicle owners who allow such ads. A ban on gambling-related promotion in public spaces is expected to follow shortly.
