Several verified Facebook pages in Bangladesh have been hijacked by cybercriminals and repurposed to promote illegal gambling. Victims report losing control of business or community pages that they built over years.
Once hacked, the page name and content are changed to promote betting apps, often directing traffic to external sites or Telegram groups. Admins are locked out and cannot report the issue effectively.
Meta has acknowledged the problem but recovery is slow. Digital rights groups recommend regular password updates and two-step authentication for all page administrators.
