South Asian Teenagers Use Parents’ IDs to Register Gambling Accounts

Teenagers across Bangladesh and India are registering on gambling apps using their parents’ ID cards. In many cases, children secretly photograph National IDs and input them into betting platforms to pass verification.

These apps lack strong age verification systems and allow deposits from mobile wallets linked to family accounts. Once the funds are lost, families discover the fraud too late.

Cyber safety experts urge the implementation of two-factor age verification and suggest linking gambling site access to biometric checks. Parents are advised to restrict access to financial apps on shared devices.
