After initial fake winnings, users are encouraged to invest more. Many lose their savings, wages, or even borrow money in hopes of recovering losses.
Local authorities are warning residents to avoid unfamiliar mobile apps and have begun distributing pamphlets and conducting seminars in high-risk communities.
