Students in Bangladesh Use Exam Bribes to Fund Gambling Habits

Reports from multiple high schools and universities in Bangladesh reveal that some students involved in gambling are using bribe money to pass exams. These students lose tuition funds or pocket money on betting apps and later resort to bribing staff to avoid academic failure.

Teachers and administrators say they are pressured to overlook attendance or poor grades in exchange for small payments. In some cases, parents remain unaware of the situation.

Education boards are launching inquiries into academic corruption linked to online gambling. Counselors are also being trained to detect gambling-related behavioral issues in youth.
